Substance use disorders consume lives. They impact every area of a person’s existence, from their job and hobbies to their relationships and health. When someone experiences withdrawal symptoms alongside their condition, it tends to only reinforce the cycle of substance use. That cycle is painful, frustrating, and difficult to break. That being said, it’s a cycle that anyone has the power to heal from.
We believe this deeply at Pacific Sands. We understand how draining that cycle can be, and how challenging it can be to seek treatment, so we try to make the process as smooth as possible. This includes working out of network with providers like TriWest, who tirelessly ensure veterans receive the care they deserve. Our services are often covered under TriWest policies. We will do a verification of benefits and give you a complete estimate of your patient responsibility before services are rendered.

About TriWest Insurance
TriWest Healthcare Alliance was established in 1997, with the core mission of connecting veterans with healthcare.
TriWest is responsible for TRICARE, which helps active duty military personnel and their families find healthcare. TriWest itself is a third-party administrator for the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs in Region 4 (Western United States) and Region 5 (Alaska). This means when VA facilities can’t provide someone care, TriWest can find an alternative.
TriWest’s team is made up of veterans and their family members, too, providing them insight into patients’ experiences and additional passion for delivering healthcare services to veterans in need.
TriWest is fully equipped to collaborate with addiction recovery centers to deliver quality behavioral health services.
The Affordable Care Act
The Affordable Care Act (ACA), passed in 2010, ensures behavioral health services are covered and offered by organizations like TriWest. This includes treatment for substance use disorders and mental health conditions. TriWest’s network of providers also deliver services such as the following when the VA isn’t equipped to do so:
- Dental care
- Vision care
- Cancer treatment
- Traumatic brain injury treatment and amputations
- HIV/AIDs treatment
- Mental health and trauma-related treatment
- Treatment for substance use disorders
Behavioral Health With TriWest
TriWest recommends veterans seek behavioral health support through the VA first, but they have an additional network of providers offering the same services if needed. “We provide many options for Veterans seeking treatment for substance use problems ranging from unhealthy alcohol use to life-threatening addiction. The services we offer you depend on your specific needs,” the VA website shares. TriWest also provides a plethora of resources on their website, including coping strategies for behavioral health challenges and job support.
TriWest can also connect veterans to telehealth appointments related to behavioral health. The Veterans COMPACT Act of 2020 ensures suicide crisis care is a covered benefit for veterans, too.

How TriWest Can Help With Medical Detoxification
TriWest connects people to behavioral healthcare, like the medical detox program Pacific Sands offers.
During medical detoxification, individuals stay at a facility and receive 24/7 medical care while a substance leaves their body. The skilled professionals in charge of the detox program help clients through any painful withdrawal symptoms, ensuring the process is safe and as comfortable as possible. They might provide medications to ease symptoms at their discretion.
Pacific Sands offers detox services for opioids, benzodiazepines, alcohol, and more. Our detox phase is broken into three phases. The first is a thorough assessment to fully address your condition. The second involves managing any symptoms that someone might experience during the detox process. Lastly, Pacific Sands prepares the person in detox to continue to a different treatment program, setting them up for long-term recovery.
TriWest and Pacific Sands work together to provide the quality detox services that veterans deserve. Contact us to learn more.
