Our Inpatient Addiction Treatment Center in Orange County

For those seeking help for an addiction to drugs or alcohol, the first step in getting the help that you need is deciding what kind of treatment program is going to work the best for you. If you have been abusing drugs or alcohol for a long period of time, or if you are using large quantities, then the best rehab option for you is likely going to be inpatient addiction treatment.

At our inpatient addiction treatment center in Orange County, we allow you to immerse yourself in a comprehensive addiction treatment strategy, repairing the physical, mental, and emotional damage substance abuse causes. By being able to focus exclusively on your treatment program, clients are able to achieve fuller, more meaningful, and longer lasting sobriety.

What is Inpatient Addiction Treatment?

Inpatient addiction treatment, which is also sometimes called residential treatment, is an addiction treatment program that requires clients to live at the facility. Programs can last for weeks or even months depending on the client’s individual needs. Most clients begin residential addiction treatment with detoxification, usually called detox, to allow all of the drugs or alcohol to get out of your system. Detoxing in an inpatient program means that you can receive medical support in case of an emergency, and will often be given medications that help make detox more comfortable.

After detox, you will begin the next phase of your treatment program, which is typically behavioral therapy. Pacific Sands offers a number of different therapy options in order to ensure that we are able to address your addiction and any underlying mental health issues you may be experiencing. You may also take advantage of our medication-assisted treatment program, which helps people who are addicted to opioids or alcohol by reducing cravings. As you progress in your treatment, many clients will “step down” into less restrictive programs, such as a partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient program. These programs allow clients to learn how to apply the techniques they’ve learned in treatment, while still having the support they need to be successful.

Who is Inpatient Addiction Treatment For?

Inpatient addiction treatment centers in Orange County most often see clients that have very severe addictions. These people are not able to ignore substance cravings, and thus would be very likely to relapse if they were in an outpatient rehab program instead. In addition, anyone who is likely to experience extremely unpleasant side effects from detox, or may even be in danger of life-threatening side effects, should enroll in an inpatient addiction treatment program.

How Long are Inpatient Addiction Treatment Programs?

The length of a client’s stay at an inpatient addiction treatment center in Orange County will depend almost entirely on their unique needs. Many programs have a minimum stay requirement of 90 days, and most clients will stay in treatment for between 90 and 120 days after they complete detox. For those with a severe addiction to opioids or alcohol, treatment may be longer, as stays of 6 to 12 months have been shown to help them be significantly more successful in staying sober once they leave treatment.

How Do I Know if I Need Inpatient Addiction Treatment?

Just like any other treatment program, not every client is right for inpatient addiction treatment. If your addiction has not yet reached a high level of severity, for instance, you may be better suited to an outpatient program. If, however, any of the following apply to you, you should consider inpatient treatment instead:

  • You have been addicted for a long period of time.
  • You consume large quantities of drugs or alcohol.
  • You have already completed an outpatient program, but have relapsed back into regular substance abuse.
  • You have a co-occurring mental health condition.
  • You are at risk of experiencing severe or life-threatening withdrawal symptoms.
  • You live with someone who also abuses drugs or alcohol, or have a family member who enables your substance abuse.

The Benefits of an Inpatient Addiction Treatment Program

For those who need the more rigorous programming that inpatient addiction treatment offers, there are many different benefits to choosing to enter one. These include:

  • Being in a safe, substance-free environment.
  • Having the support of addiction treatment professionals, as well as the support of your fellow clients.
  • Information that helps you understand the disease of addiction.
  • Skills to help you avoid relapse.
  • Time and space to think about your addiction, and how it has affected your life.
  • Treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders.

For anyone who enters one of our programs, treatment does not end when you complete your initial treatment plan. You can choose to step down into less restrictive programs in order to ease back into your daily life, and we encourage all of our clients to enroll in aftercare programs like 12-step groups when they leave our facility. Continuing your addiction treatment is a vital part of ensuring that you do not experience a relapse.
